I have been making a lot of gel prints this past week. I am working in a limited palette on maps and circular recording charts. I gravitate towards circles + symmetry with a little grit + texture. These are a sneak peek at what is starting to come together…

Art-Write by Vicki Krohn Amorose is one of the best written and most helpful books I have read in a long time. Clocking in at a slim 110 pages, the size belies the value of the information that is packed into its pages. The content is succinct and to the point – no filler or fluff.
She defines an artist statement as “a concise arrangement of words that acts as a bridge to connect your audience to your art” and then proceeds to walk you though the process of writing one, including helpful prompts, exercises, tips and answers to common questions. She teaches and encourages honest, genuine writing that’s clear and simple — not overly inflated art-speak. This is a must-have in an artist’s toolkit.

The sum of a past is I was.
The sum of a future is
I will be.
The continuous crossing back and forth
Between the two
Obscures the present moment,
The I am, Being Itself.
