📚 convention + conversation + lifespan
ISSUE #178
MAKING
Chris and I went to the ASI Show at McCormick Place this week. It’s a trade show for the promotional products industry.
We’ve been quietly building something for the past few weeks. It’s not ready to talk about yet. And no, it’s not a promotional products business. But there is some overlap between what we’re working on and the vendors at the show.
Between the two of us, we hauled home a heavy stack of catalogs and color swatch cards; five tote bags; two T-shirts; stickers, pens, notebooks, keychains, and patch samples; plus two knit beanies and a resource for giant inflatables, should we ever find ourselves in need.
It was the most fun either of us has ever had at a trade show. And our minds have been spinning with ideas ever since…
LOVING
Psychologist and author Adam Grant shares a question for sparking better conversation…
“When you meet someone new, don’t ask: What do you do? It limits what people share about themselves to a job description.
Instead, try: What do you love to do? It ignites curiosity and invites people to express their distinctive interests.”

THINKING
“It’s not that analogue is better than digital, it’s just that analogue stuff has a longer lifespan.”
